Kasowitz Secures $5 Million Settlement and Proclamation of Innocence on Behalf of Election Logistics Firm and its Founder in Civil Rights Suit Against LA County DA

Kasowitz Benson Torres, on behalf of Konnech, an election logistics firm, and its founder, Eugene Yu, has reached a settlement with Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, and Los Angeles County arising out of the Los Angeles DA’s arrest of Mr. Yu--based on utterly false charges--and the search and seizure of all of Mr. Yu’s and Konnech’s computer equipment.  Although the DA dropped the charges 5 weeks later, the resulting publicity cost Mr. Yu his life savings and Konnech over 50% of its customers.  Now, just four months after Mr. Yu and Konnech filed suit, Los Angeles County has agreed to settle the lawsuit, paying $5 million, agreeing to publicly proclaim Mr. Yu’s innocence and not to prosecute Konnech or Mr. Yu further.

The Kasowitz team representing Konnech and Mr. Yu is led by partner Constantine “Dean” Z. Pamphilis and includes partners Daniel Saunders and J. Michael Wilson and associate Nathan W. Richardson.
