Daily Journal Names Jonathan K. Waldrop as a 2023 Top Intellectual Property Lawyer

Kasowitz Benson Torres partner Jonathan K. Waldrop has been recognized as a 2023 Top Intellectual Property Lawyer in California by the Daily Journal.  The annual list highlights California’s leading intellectual property lawyers who have had significant achievements over the past year.

In his profile, the publication highlights Mr. Waldrop’s representation of WSOU Investments, one of the largest patent assertion companies, in more than 40 patent lawsuits against many companies, including Canon, NEC, NetGear and Chinese cellphone maker OnePlus.  The publication also notes Mr. Waldrop’s precedent-setting victory before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) in which he and the Kasowitz team, on behalf of Fintiv, defeated Apple’s petition for inter partes review of Fintiv’s patent at issue in its infringement lawsuit against Apple—the first time the PTAB issued a discretionary denial of such a petition based on the pendency of a parallel patent action.
