Frederick C. Bingham, a member of Kasowitz’s Data Strategy, Privacy, and Security team, focuses his practice on issues related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI.

Fred advises clients on compliance with global privacy frameworks (including the CCPA/CPRA, GDPR, and emerging U.S. state and federal laws), managing AI-related legal risks, establishing and maintaining cybersecurity best practices, responding to government investigations and regulatory enforcement, developing records and information governance, and negotiating technology transactions.  He has extensive experience counseling clients in many sectors, including global consumer retail companies, healthcare systems and other HIPAA-covered entities, medical device manufacturers, automotive manufacturers, technology and AI startups, digital marketing and publishing companies, hospitality brands, insurance providers, real estate developers, and private equity.

Prior to joining Kasowitz, Fred gained in-house perspective as Vice President, Technology and Privacy Counsel at a diversified Hollywood media company, where he handled complex data privacy, cybersecurity, and AI-related matters, supported privacy and technology mergers and operations-related due diligence and data governance initiatives, and worked with business stakeholders to operationalize regulatory requirements across verticals.  Fred also previously worked as a privacy and cybersecurity associate at a global law firm, advising clients on regulatory compliance, technology transactions, cybersecurity, and regulatory enforcement. 

Prior to entering private practice, Fred clerked for the Honorable Peter C. Lewis, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California.

Fred has authored several industry-focused articles including, “Italy’s DPA Reaffirms Ban on Replika Over AI and Children’s Privacy Concerns” for IAPP  (June 2025) and “AI Audits: Initial Steps Toward Building User Trust and Maintaining International Norms” in the Journal of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence & Law (July-August 2025).

Fred holds multiple industry-benchmark data privacy and cybersecurity certifications, including CIPP (US/E/A/C), CIPT, and CIPM from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, and CISSP from the (ISC)2.
