Cyrus Borhani’s practice focuses on issues related to data privacy and protection, cybersecurity, and AI. He has experience advising on complex privacy, AI, and data security matters, content moderation, technology law, and process design.
Cyrus counsels clients on complex privacy and data protection matters, including compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other state and federal privacy regulations. He has extensive experience building privacy compliance programs from the ground up for multinational companies across the entertainment, sports, and music industries.
Cyrus’s practice includes developing privacy governance programs, performing gap assessments to measure compliance with privacy regulations, negotiating and drafting data processing agreements, constructing data sharing arrangements that align with regulatory requirements and business objectives, and developing comprehensive privacy governance programs. Additionally, his practice includes providing practical, business-oriented counsel on the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, helping clients navigate the evolving patchwork of state AI regulations while supporting innovation and business growth.
Prior to joining Kasowitz, Cyrus served as privacy counsel at a multinational entertainment company, where he advised cross-functional teams on privacy and security risks. He previously worked as a senior consultant at Ernst & Young, where he advised Fortune 200 and Fortune 500 clients on data retention and disposition programs, privacy readiness assessments, and data subject request processes.
Cyrus is certified in U.S. privacy from the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
