Kasowitz Attorneys Receive Legal Aid Society 2025 Pro Bono Publico Awards

The Legal Aid Society has honored two teams of Kasowitz attorneys with 2025 Pro Bono Publico Awards in recognition of their outstanding work and their commitment to providing pro bono services to low-income New Yorkers.
- Kasowitz partners David J. Abrams, Chair of Kasowitz’s Pro Bono Committee, and Fria R. Kermani, and associates Joshua Marks, Paula Y. Ajumobi, and Daniel M. Akilov, were honored for securing a significant appellate victory (argued by Joshua Marks) in the New York Appellate Division, First Department, on behalf of two elderly brothers who were victims of a mortgage fraud scheme and at risk of losing the home that has been in their family for decades to foreclosure.
- Kasowitz associates Saddiq A. Abdul, Marilyn A. Vaccaro, and Hunter S. Pearl were honored for their work in representing a New York employee in obtaining and seeking to enforce a judgment against her former employer for unpaid wages, overtime, gratuities, backpay and other damages resulting from egregious employment discrimination at her workplace.
The awards ceremony was held on September 25, 2025, in New York.
