Kasowitz Secures Settlement On Behalf of Pro Bono Client Denied Substantial Overtime Pay

Kasowitz Benson Torres, on behalf of a pro bono client, secured a highly favorable settlement of federal and New York State labor law claims against his New York-based employer.  Our client, a Guatemalan immigrant who recently became a United States citizen, alleged that his longtime employer failed to pay him for overtime hours worked, totaling tens of thousands of dollars over several years, and improperly terminated him in retaliation for filing a Workers’ Compensation claim.  After Kasowitz took on the representation and intervened, the employer agreed to a favorable settlement to resolve all claims.

The Kasowitz team handling this pro bono matter was led by partners Nicholas A. Rendino and Melissa A. Barahona and included associate Michael Schmid.
