Tommy H. Vu represents individuals in high-stakes criminal matters and entities in commercial litigation. He is an experienced trial lawyer and appellate advocate, having briefed and argued numerous appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Tommy has obtained favorable outcomes for numerous clients facing federal felony charges brought by the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in the Southern Districts of New York and California. Tommy’s representations have included offenses involving fraud (securities, wire, investment advisor, bank), RICO, bank robbery, drug trafficking, alien smuggling and illegal re-entry. Tommy is a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) Panel for the Southern District of New York and regularly represents indigent defendants by court appointment.
In 2019, Tommy was selected as a finalist in the Rising Star category for the Federal Bar Council’s Thurgood Marshall Award for Exceptional Pro Bono Service.
Prior to joining the firm, Tommy was a Federal Public Defender in the Southern District of California. While in law school, Tommy was a judicial extern for the Honorable Larry A. Burns on the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and a law clerk at the Federal Public Defender’s Office in the Central District of California. Tommy is proficient in Vietnamese and has also worked in Hanoi.
