Law360 Names Jennifer S. Recine 2021 MVP for Real Estate

Kasowitz Benson Torres real estate litigation partner Jennifer S. Recine has been named a 2021 MVP for Real Estate by Law360. The recognition spotlights attorneys who have “distinguished themselves from their peers by securing hard-earned successes in high-stakes litigation, complex global matters and record-breaking deals.”
Ms. Recine is a leading first-chair trial lawyer with extensive experience handling complex real estate disputes. She advises clients on commercial real estate, land use and environmental disputes involving the investment, development, construction, sale and management of billions of dollars in real estate assets and infrastructure projects.
Her recent wins include bringing to a successful conclusion, on behalf of BD Hotels and Chelsea Hotel Owner LLC, the owners of the iconic Hotel Chelsea in Manhattan, two years of litigation, including a 15-day trial, brought by NYC’s Department of Housing Preservation Development (HPD) at the prompting of tenants objecting to the redevelopment of the historic hotel. After Ms. Recine and her team found dispositive evidence arising from information the city had tried to hide, HPD voluntarily dismissed its lawsuit and withdrew related administrative proceedings. Ms. Recine also represented 960 Franklin Ave. Acquisition, owned by Continuum Company and real estate developer Bruce Eichner, in a hotly contested dispute involving whether public hearings on zoning issues surrounding the company’s high-profile residential development of two 39-story apartment towers near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York City could proceed virtually pursuant to state and local emergency orders issued during the Covid-19 pandemic.
