David W. Fermino Begins Tenure as Chair of the Judicial Nominee Evaluation Committee

Kasowitz partner David W. Fermino has been appointed and on April 13 began his tenure as Chair of the Judicial Nominee Evaluation (JNE) Commission for the State Bar of California.  As Chair, Mr. Fermino will lead all efforts in assisting the Governor of California in the judicial selection process.

Mr. Fermino’s priorities for the year include making the JNE process more transparent to members of the legal community who have been traditionally underrepresented in the California judiciary, and providing guidance on how to respond to evaluation requests from the Governor.

Mr. Fermino has been a member of the commission since 2014, and served as Vice Chair in 2017.

Mr. Fermino’s practice focuses on white collar criminal defense, complex criminal and civil appeals in the state and federal courts, cybercrimes, and data security incidents.  He has tried numerous complex cases in state and federal courts, and also has significant appellate experience.
