Kasowitz Wins Complete Defense Verdict in Asbestos Trial

On December 5, 2007, Kasowitz obtained a complete defense verdict in a North Carolina trial filed by four former employees of Daniel Construction Company. The four plaintiffs were long-term contractors at Celanese's former Salisbury, NC facility (10 to 25 years), and all claimed to have asbestosis and asbestos-related pleural disease. During a four-week trial, Kasowitz obtained a directed verdict against one plaintiff, and a jury verdict against the other three plaintiffs. Kasowitz Atlanta partner Mike Hutchins represented Celanese in this matter.
