President-elect Donald J. Trump has nominated David M. Friedman, name partner at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP, to serve as US ambassador to Israel.
Mr. Friedman is head of Kasowitz's Creditors’ Rights and Bankruptcy Practice Group. He has represented committees of financial institutions and holders of securities at every capital structure level in virtually all of the largest, most complex bankruptcies in the United States. He has also been a longtime adviser to President-elect Trump and the Trump Organization.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me by President-elect Trump to represent the United States as its ambassador to Israel,” Mr. Friedman said. “I intend to work tirelessly to strengthen the unbreakable bond between our two countries and advance the cause of peace within the region, and look forward to doing this from the U.S. embassy in Israel’s eternal capital, Jerusalem.”
Marc E. Kasowitz, founding partner of the firm, said “this is a tremendous honor for David, and reflects the deep trust David has earned from President-elect Trump through David’s exceptional legal work at Kasowitz for the President-elect and the Trump Organization. I know that David will have great success representing our country as US ambassador to Israel.”
