Earlier this month, KBT&F filed an amended complaint on behalf of Soneet Kapila, the Chapter 11 Trustee for the Louis J. Pearlman bankruptcy estate in its on-going action against MTV Networks in Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida. The amended complaint alleges that MTV schemed to dispossess Pearlman’s television production company, Trans Continental Television Productions, Inc., of its co-ownership interest in the hit television franchise, Making the Band, depriving Trans Continental of at least forty million dollars.  The amended complaint seeks the dissolution of the MTV/Trans Continental joint venture; the liquidation/auctioning of the Making the Band franchise; and punitive damages based on MTV’s breaches of its fiduciary duties to Trans Continental.  KBT&F partners James Sammataro, Scott Cosgrove and Larry Silverman are leading the representation for the Trustee.
