He has participated in the representation of public and private companies, financial institutions, and individuals in a broad range of disputes in state and federal courts throughout the United States in the insurance, financial services, manufacturing, and consumer products industries.

Notable Representations

  • Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited, a Canadian insurance holding company, in a New Jersey action arising out of a short-selling attack on Fairfax and its operating subsidiaries by a group of hedge funds and their operatives in collusion with certain purportedly independent securities analysts. Fairfax and its principal property and casualty insurance subsidiary have asserted claims under New Jersey's RICO statute and New Jersey common law seeking $6 billion in damages for the harm they suffered as a result of the attack;
  • A multinational conglomerate pursuing fraud and surety bond claims against AIG stemming from a $191 million dollar public works contract;
  • Post-charge representation of the former CEO of Invesco in the highly-publicized enforcement actions concerning market timing in mutual funds by the SEC and the New York Attorney General's Office;
  • Representation of Level 3 Communications, Ltd., one of the largest telecommunications providers in the country, in a post-acquisition contract dispute;
  • A specialty chemical manufacturer in a professional malpractice action against a law firm for providing allegedly faulty advice concerning the legality of trade activity with countries subject to a U.S. trade embargo; and
  • George Weston Bakeries Ltd. (n/k/a Bimbo Bakeries Ltd.), the baker of Entenmann’s®, Thomas’ English Muffins®, Freihofer®, Stroehman’s® and other fresh baked products, in a dispute with the general contractor and subcontractors in the construction of one of its facilities.
