Eleanor Alter heads Kasowitz's family and matrimonial law department. While most of Eleanor's matters are resolved without litigation, she has successfully tried cases in Family Court and the Supreme Court in the various judicial departments of the State of New York. Eleanor has appeared as an expert witness, has acted as co-counsel with attorneys in other jurisdictions, and has argued many appeals in the various judicial departments of the state. In 2009, Eleanor was named Best Lawyers' New York Family Lawyer of the Year. Eleanor has been listed among The Best Lawyers in America in the area of Family Law since 1983. Eleanor has also been recognized on the New York – Metro Top 50 Women list in 2012 for New York Super Lawyers in the area of Family Law and has been recognized as one of Avenue Magazine’s “Legal Elite” and “Top Women Lawyers.”
