Diversity & Women's Initiatives


Kasowitz promotes a diverse and inclusive work environment.  Our culture values the individual abilities and perspectives of each employee.  We believe a diverse makeup attracts talented attorneys to the firm and enhances our ability to provide the highest level of service to our clients.  Our success is derived from our attorneys and staff, which include people of all backgrounds with unique skills, talents and experiences.

Kasowitz devotes time and resources to maintaining a diverse workplace.  The firm recruits students from Howard Law School and the Northeast Black Law Students Association Job Fair, utilizes law school diversity directories and resume collects, and participates in the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association Internship Program.

The firm also participates in pipeline diversity initiatives.  In partnership with the Justice Resource Center, Kasowitz serves as a mentor law firm to students attending The Law Institute at John Dewey High School in Brooklyn.  The firm provides students with resources to encourage and facilitate academic achievement, the pursuit of higher education, and an understanding of the legal field.

Kasowitz is committed to the development of our diverse attorneys and offers opportunities to obtain skills and knowledge useful for both personal and professional advancement.  Kasowitz is a member of the California Minority Counsel Program and supports various minority organizations including, but not limited to, The Cuban Bar Association and The Puerto Rican Bar Association.  In addition to firm-announced training programs and networking events, an annual stipend is provided to diverse attorneys to attend minority-oriented seminars of their choosing.

In an effort to increase the number of minorities represented and retained in our workforce, we continue to enhance our diversity initiatives.  The firm is honored to have received The Law Firm Diversity award from The Puerto Rican Bar Association and The American Lawyer Top Firm for Diversity award.  In addition, Law360 ranked Kasowitz among the 100 best U.S. law firms for minority attorneys.

Women’s Initiatives

Kasowitz is devoted to recruiting, mentoring and retaining female attorneys.  The firm supports our women lawyers in their professional development and fosters a supportive and inclusive work environment.  Our initiative is designed to assist women lawyers in establishing a business development platform that provides a foundation to build and expand upon.  In addition to in-house programs, we sponsor attendance at “The Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Distinguished Lecture on Women and the Law,” hosted by the New York City Bar.  

Kasowitz takes pride in the firm’s history of promoting female attorneys and is dedicated to women’s initiatives and gender equality in the legal profession.  Over the past few years, approximately half of the attorneys promoted to partner have been women.  We believe that our success in recruiting and promoting women lawyers is indicative of our overall approach to achieving a diverse workplace.
