Summer Program

Our summer program provides law students with an informal environment and an experience as close as possible to that of a first-year associate. The program is small (in 2008 we had fifteen students in New York). We make every effort to involve summer associates in all facets of our practice and expose them to courtroom appearances, depositions, client meetings, negotiations and travel. Salaries for summer associates match those of other top New York law firms.

In 2007 KBT&F's Summer Program was once again ranked by The American Lawyer Student Edition.

Assignments & Training: The primary objective of our summer program is to provide students with quality work assignments and professional experiences reflective of the depth and complexity of our practice. Summer associates are encouraged to participate in all areas of our practice and undertake meaningful roles in the cases to which they are assigned.

Each summer associate is provided with both a partner and an associate mentor and participates in our series of training and formal lunch programs. The training component of the program is enhanced with sessions on tackling an assignment, basics of legal research and a deposition workshop. We also host formal programs on substantive legal topics throughout the summer. Most significantly, we are committed to providing hands-on training and continuous feedback from the attorneys with whom summer associates work. Each summer associate also receives a mid- and end-of-summer review of his or her experiences.

Social: During the summer, we host several social and chartiable events for summer associates and our attorneys, including breakfasts, cocktail receptions and weekly partner lunches.
